think-tank is closely wed to the corridors of American power. If you listen to
NPR or BBC, you're already familiar with the organisation and Anthony Cordesman
is an old familiar voice.

OBOR, Atlanticism and Trumpism: Setting the Stage for Proxy Conflicts and Battlegrounds in the New Cold War (Part 2)
China's economy must continue growing. Continued Western
investment is risky, all the more as it's clear the West is gearing for war. A
capitalist economy must grow. Without investment and returns, stagnate capital
begins to depreciate.
This is the point where Capitalism turns the imperialist
corner. If there aren't any more markets, then you must find them, create them
and if necessary force them open. And you must angle and strategise in order to
make sure your rivals don't beat you to it.
Xi does not want to fight a war with the United States but
his solution to the problem was to re-cast and expand China's already growing global
economic footprint. OBOR also known as the New Silk Road gives China something
to invest in and creates a multitude of new markets and opportunities.

OBOR, Atlanticism and Trumpism: Setting the Stage for Proxy Conflicts and Battlegrounds in the New Cold War (Part 1)
Announced in the fall of 2013, China's Belt and Road
Initiative (OBOR) also known as the New Silk Road continues to garner attention
as the magnitude and scope of the project is beginning to set in.
And indeed the largest coordinated infrastructure project in
recorded history extends well beyond the geography of the historical Silk Road.
The focus hasn't come from American mainstream media outlets as such stories
are of little interest to the domestic audience. However, international news
outlets like the BBC are starting to really pay attention. The stage is being
set.

The Horn of Africa, Geopolitics and the Persecution of Christians
Recently some thirty-five Christians were released from
prison in Eritrea. Is this a sign of future toleration or a case of symbolic
amnesty, a diplomatic bone thrown to Ethiopia's allies in the West? The event
is probably best understood by the recent peace declaration between Addis Ababa
and Asmara, ending the border conflict which has been ongoing since Eritrean
independence in the 1990's. Will these moves signal a change for the persecuted
Christians in Eritrea? Let's hope so, but there's good reason to doubt.

The Church in a Time of Endless War, Imperialism and the Destruction of Societies
The recent Al Jazeera verdicts in Egypt are an exclamation
point on the total collapse of the Arab Spring. They represent a final
expression of the perversion and subversion of this vast regional movement
which five years later is all but over and must be reckoned a failure.

Mandela, the West, Cold War Africa and Geopolitics
Undoubtedly Nelson Mandela will soon be departing this life
and there will be considerable commentary reflecting on his life. In fact teams
of reporters have been more or less camped out in South Africa for the past
several years, expecting his death at anytime. This will be a massive story and
internationally may even surpass the coverage of Margaret Thatcher's recent
death.

FN Lee
*updated 24 December (evening)
Francis Nigel Lee has died. Most have probably not heard of
him. He was something of a pariah even in Reformed circles. He talked about and
was quite proud of the history of the Reformed Church in South Africa…a topic
few wish to discuss, and consequently few Americans have any knowledge of.
I will grant FN Lee one thing, he was a consistent
Sacralist. He excoriated Verduin and with Rushdoony and others realized the
deep threat Two Kingdom non-Sacralist theology posed to their system and vision
for the Church. The Anabaptists have always maintained a special place of condemnation
in Reformed circles. It’s not so much about the issue of Baptism. That’s
present, but many Reformed are Baptists as well. It’s really about their
rejection of Sacralism, Dominionism, and Constantinianism. Though I’m not an
Anabaptist, on these points I heartily agree with them, and maintain on these
issues they are the maintainers and custodians of a key doctrine held by many
Dissenters going back to the early Church.
In many ways this is one of the biggest issues in all of
Church History. FN Lee understood this, he just came out on the wrong side…dreadfully
wrong.

A Benefit for the Acholi of Uganda
And a general exhortation regarding Africa past and present.
For those who might be somewhere near Ohio on 12 June, there’s a worthwhile event taking place.
I tried to include some of the pictures but I'm afraid the Google Blogger programme didn't want to cooperate. I'm sure there's a way, but I'm not enough of a computer guy to know how to do it.
This is a benefit to aid some folks in Uganda. Africa is a pretty confusing place for most people, in fact so daunting that most people don't even try to understand it. We should.
