Milley, The Deep State, and the Present Crisis

Is General Milley a traitor? The Trumpites would have you think so. As a Christian my concerns to this end are minimal at best. Let the dead bury their dead. Let the Babylons and the Babylonians scheme and betray one another. Whatever faction is ascendant – it's still Babylon in the end.

And yet there's a concern here on a deeper level because it touches on fundamental understandings of the nature of US government. This is particularly important given the way Evangelical leaders have fused Liberalism with Christianity and have thus generated a series of extra-biblical imperatives regarding citizenship, voting, general participation, capitalist economics, and the like.

Regardless of what you think of Pepe Escobar this article is interesting and raises many salient points. I found myself hooked at the beginning when he started talking about Ahmad Shah Massoud. I remember very well where I was on 9 September 2001 when the news came over the radio that he had been killed. We had just bought an old fixer-upper schoolhouse turned domicile and I was poking around on that Sunday afternoon thinking about the repairs that needed to be done. The radio was tuned to NPR and the story of Massoud's death broke leaving me startled. I had been following Afghanistan for some time and his death was a pretty big deal. You definitely felt like something was going to happen, something would change.

The False Exposé (Part 3/Final)

In some cases, these books could almost be described as court histories, official narratives that reveal some juicy tidbits and offer some internal criticisms but largely they are revealed to be sanctions and apologias for the subjects and institutions they address. The approach they take is more a case of constructive criticism as opposed to a genuine adversarial exposé. They are not exposing the deeper truth, revealing true guilt, unleashing a story that's been suppressed and hidden.  

This is why they need to be identified as false exposé.

No, the worst offenders and enemies of the Kingdom of Truth (with regard to China) are found among the dissident Chinese who have sold out to become agents of the American Beast. A couple of weeks ago I finished listening to Owen Bennett-Jones' BBC series on the Benazir Bhutto assassination. I enjoyed it and learned a few things. In typical fashion, it ignored certain aspects of the context and larger story but that is to be expected.

The linked article mentions the Vatican and Hanoi still don't have formal relations and that this is a legacy of communism. The statement is interesting because someone might read it and think something along these lines: The communists were atheistic and thus they would have no interest in establishing diplomatic ties with a theocratic state like the Vatican.

This recent Greenwald article calls attention to the inherent danger found in the Neo-McCarthyite campaign against Russia. Patrick Buchanan and others have also picked up on this and are sounding the alarm.

Germany, and Western Europe were becoming economically powerful and in Asia, Japan had recovered. South Korea would soon follow. They were in many ways (and still are) US satellites. The US militarily occupies these nations and controls both their military and foreign policy. But what to do about their economic competitiveness? Some believed they needed to be subjugated, limited and controlled. How to do this? There was no consensus. Others believed they needed to be incorporated and managed. This could be done in part through cross investment, collaboration and through such an agenda it was possible to strengthen both their interests and that of the United States.

The Nature of the Deep State and the Post-War Era

I could spend 2 years, write 1000 pages, breakdown and footnote everything and make my case. Apart from a few observations and explicitly Christian commentary my narrative regarding the Deep State wouldn't be unique. I don't have the time or resources for such projects so instead I offer an account based on my years of study, investigation and reflection. What I hope to do is develop a background narrative leading up to the various divisions within the Deep State power structures that command the contemporary US Empire. Due to events of the past decade I believe they are presently in a state of crisis which has produced a great deal of instability and even volatility.
